How ITT works.

How therapy works

ITT offers a focused approach to trauma healing. While it follows the same structure as traditional weekly therapy, it takes place over 1 to 3 consecutive days, with several sessions each day. This format allows for a meaningful journey through the healing process, enabling both the therapist and client to work together on the issues and symptoms.

Assessment

Before starting treatment we take the time to assess trauma symptoms and agree on specific therapy (trauma memories or clusters). This assessment typically occurs over 1 to3 sessions.

Safety and resourcing

Feeling dysregulated and engaging in harmful behaviors can be part of living with PTSD or C-PTSD. While this isn't a barrier to therapy, it does require thoughtful planning beforehand. Our therapists will help you identify resources and safety, such as who you would like to inform your intensive therapy and how they can you. We want to ensure you have everything in place to focus on your therapeutic work rather than daily life challenges during these important days.

What an ITT day can look like

ITT can be delivered in various and flexible ways and is carefully planned before it takes place. Typically, clients participate in 2 to 4 sessions each day lasting between 60 to 120 each. Before treatment begins, the therapist and client collaborate to create the most effective schedule. Between sessions, we encourage activities like exercise, walking, gardening, art, or nature-based tasks to support your journey throughout the day.
